XLX428 runs on a cloud VPS. There is no USB AMBE dongle (ThumbDV) on this server, so D-STAR ↔ DMR ↔ analog is software transcode, not hardware AMBE.
D-STAR-to-D-STAR on A and DMR-to-DMR on G stay in that mode and should sound normal. Cross-mode (D-STAR A to DMR G, or either mode to AllStar/IRLP) is decoded to analog and re-encoded on the VPS — it can sound thin or a bit muffled. That is expected, not a radio problem.
